Absolute Value and Piecewise Functions

Functions - So far, we've barely scratched the surface of what a function actually is. But now, since we're about to start Absolute Value and Piecewise Functions, we need to really look at what makes a function a function. Learn about the vertical line test, as well as how we can use functions to make our lives a little easier when solving equations!


Absolute Value Solving Graphically - Now that we know what a function is, let's look at the absolute value function! Now, to start off with, we need to see how the absolute value function works, and then see how we can study the graph to find the answer to the function! Check it out!


Absolute Value Solving Algebraically - Since you now know how to solve absolute value problems with graphing, let's look at what happens when you don't have a graph to look at. Here's how to solve them using algebra!


Piecewise Functions - Now let's look at what happens when you have certain conditions that change what happens. Because life isn't one giant nice easy function, we have piecewise functions that help us determine what to do when things change.


Graphing Piecewise Functions - Now let's look at a graphical representation of a piecewise function. We do this mostly so we can see patterns and changes in whatever it is we're studying. This is a great way to try and predict what may or may not happen!


Piecewise and Absolute Value Functions - So, now that you've learned how to work with both piecewise and absolute value functions, let's look at how the two relate to each other, because when we can see when functions relate to each other, it makes them much easier to solve!
